Free Website Hosting Or Paid Hosting

Free Website Hosting Or Paid Hosting

For 1 year i went with the well known webhosting company Bluehost in order to have my websites uploaded onto the internet. I went with Bluehost because i read some great reviews, and they were also recommended by some of the big affiliate networks i was working with at the time as the number one hosting company you should join if you need total reliability, almost 100% uptime, and all the latest features and software.

The problem for me was that i only had a few basic websites, that did not need all the latest software and features. They only used HTML, basic PHP, and some JavaScript. You get all this with free website hosting, and more, like free email addresses, FTP, MySQL, and many other useful software programs. Heres me paying $100 for the year, when everything i needed was available for free on the internet. I stayed with Bluehost for the year anyway, because i didn't find out about free hosting until the year i had already paid for was almost up.

Just before my year with Bluehost was up i asked them to cancel my account, which created a problem. They did not cancel the account quick enough, so they took a direct debit of just over $100 from my bank account to automatically pay for the second year in advance, i was quite annoyed at this, as i told them in advance that i wanted to cancel my account, but still the money was automatically taken from my account. After several emails and phone calls i got a refund and my Bluehost account was closed, so all was well in the end.

I actually can't fault Bluehost, while i was with them they were very good, they even have a live online support on their website, so you can talk to someone at any time if you have any issues.

Paid hosting or free hosting is all about what you need. Do you need all the latest software like, live 24/7 support, Anonymous FTP Access, Perl, Python, Ruby On Rails, CGI Scripts, Private and Shared SSL, unlimited MySQL Databases. Do you own a high quality website which needs the latest PHP, Apache, ASCII, to run smoothly. If the answers yes, then go with paid hosting.

If, like me, you don't need half of these things, but still want the basics like, an easy to use control panel, free email addresses, 99% uptime, 1 FTP account, Basic PHP, 2 MySQL Databases, simple sitebuilder, 100GB data transfer per month, Cron Jobs, Web mail, 5 sub domians, 5 add on domains, then free website hosting is definitely for you. Free webhosting is definitely the best option if you have a basic website, or if your just starting out. Why pay $100 for website hosting when you won't need or use half of the features and options that are available.

it's not fair that you can't develop a blog made in wordpress or blogger and sell it like you can with a normal website. I wonder when they will make this possible..?
